Choosing the Right Pillow for Better Sleep

A perfect pillow completes a bed to ensure that you get a good night’s sleep. Although the pillow is important, most people do not give it much attention when they are buying one. This may arise from the availability of many brands, types, and sizes of pillows in the market. Despite the many choices, you still need to get the right pillow.

So, what makes the right pillow? The right fit for you depends on your sleeping position.

For stomach sleepers, a pillow that is soft and flat is a better choice. If you sleep on your stomach, you naturally twist your neck. Therefore, a firm pillow will only add pressure to the already twisted neck.

The back sleepers require soft and firm pillows. This position needs neck support and minimal pressure on the back of the head. You will find that contour shaped pillows are excellent as they provide a depression for the head and an arch for the neck.

Finally, the side sleepers need thicker and firmer pillows. This will prevent the head from slumping thereby straining the neck. Memory foam pillows and latex foam pillows that are contour shaped are good examples of ideal pillows for side sleepers. It is worth noting that pillows just as with other furnishings in the house are being made from fire resistant or flame resistant fabrics.

Bottom line- the right pillow depends on your sleeping position hence; choose one that makes you comfortable.
